The Beach Ball

When I first met the class, the group that wanted to create a beach had a vision inspired by the beach balls along the Wildwood, NJ, boardwalk. In their vision, the students wanted to use the beach ball icon as a statement about how dumped plastic affects the oceans and local beaches.

Over the course of the month and a half, we talked several times about narrowing down their concept to a realistic vision and then developing a concrete (no pun intended) sculpture.
